Not my favorite Wale track to drop, but still worth the download.

Track that didn't make the cut for his upcoming album, but should have.

KRS-One & DJ Premier - 5% (feat. Grand Puba)

Here's the first single for the upcoming KRS-One and DJ Premier album, Return of the Boom-Bip, dropping in 2011.  Three legends in the building on this one.

Download 5% (via djpremierblog)

Bonus throwback: Brand Nubian - Don't Let It Go To Your Head.  Every up-and-coming rapper should listen to the third verse.  Daily.
Don't let it go to your head, no!
Cuz one single don't make you a hit...

Dr. Dre - Kush (feat. Snoop Dogg, Akon)

Video for the first single off of Detox.  I wasn't feeling this at first, but it grew on me...

John Legend & The Roots Concert Footage

I was fortunate enough to score tickets to the John Legend & The Roots invite-only concert this past Tuesday.  It also happened to be the Rolling Stone holiday party (which meant open bar).  I'm a huge fan of John Legend and The Roots, and I had pretty high expectations, which they completely blew out of the water.  I'll just say that these guys are true artists and if you get a chance, you need to go see them.  My friend already wrote a full review/re-cap from the night, so, if you're interested, hit up 34th & Now for his thoughts.

Here is a playlist of all the songs I recorded: Hard Times, Lil Ghetto Boy, Doing It Again, Wake Up Everybody, Ordinary People, I Can't Write Left Handed, The Fire, and Green Light.  Enjoy.

Mixtape Monday: B.o.B - No Genre

This is kind of cheating, but hit up bobatl.com tomorrow to download his mixtape No Genre.

Mixtape Monday: Raheem DeVaughn - Jackin 4 Beats

Raheem had the twitterverse going crazy over his latest video (check it out here if you are into soft-core porn). But more importantly, the DMV crooner just dropped his most recent mixtape.  If you don't know about Raheem DeVaughn and are a fan of R&B, then you are missing out on a true talent.  His most recent album, The Love & War MasterPeace, was just nominated for R&B album of the year.  That  makes for his third grammy nomination for those keeping score at home.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he finally wins one, because the dude deserves it...

Throwback Thursday: Lupe Fiasco - Dumb it Down

After becoming addicted to Lupe Fiasco's The Show Goes On, I had to re-visit one of my favorite hip-hop albums of all time - The Cool. Lupe Fiasco is on another level, and if you never listened to The Cool, you are missing out on a classic. On this track, Lupe addresses those who would have him sell out to sell more records. Like Jay-Z said,

If skills sold, truth be told, I'd probably be, lyrically, Talib Kweli

Truthfully, I wanna rhyme like Common Sense, but I sold five mil, I ain't been rhyming like Common since.

Dumbed down lyrics sell (see: Crank Dat, This is Why I'm Hot). But Lupe stays true, and always comes out with albums that focus on lyricism instead of catering to radio and the mainstream. Lupe can still come through with a radio banger, but Dumb it Down is no radio track. Watch Lupe showcase his lyrical skills.

They told me I should come down cousin, but I flatly refuse I ain't dumb down nothing

Cee-Lo - It's Ok (Video)

Official video for Cee-Lo's It's Ok. Go cop The Lady Killer if you haven't already.

Migeul - All I Want is You (Live)

Sick track.  Sick performance.  It's been out for awhile now, but this is worth a view even if you're fed up with the track - dude has some vocals.

Nas - Snitch Alibi

Following up last week's Take it from me (Freeway), here is an even better joint featuring the legendary Nas.  Lovin' the piano on the track...

Mixtape Monday - In My Zone 2 & #Lemmeholdatbeat

It's Mixtape Monday!  Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving - sorry for the extended absence (again) but there wasn't much worth posting for the past 10 days.  And I'm busy.  So without further ado, here's everything you need to cure your case of the Mondays.  Also, if you don't have it yet, pick up My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.  Shit is serious.

Chris Brown - In My Zone 2

FREESTYLE FRIDAY - Lupe Fiasco

Lupe Fiasco - Freestyle @ The Shrine (Chicago) from Cam Be on Vimeo.

Lupe goes off the top for almost 3 minutes.  One of the best out there right now - watch out for LASERS in 2011.

B.o.B - Beast Mode (video)

B.o.B goes hard on this. First peak at his upcoming mixtape, No Genre, which drops December 7th.

Johnny Polygon - The Catch Up (Mixtape)

Remember yesterday when I said I didn't know much about Johnny Polygon, but that I like what I've heard?  Well you downloaded the song and liked it right???  Since my timing is perfect, Johnny Polygon just dropped The Catch Up mixtape to introduce all of us to some highlights from his 10 year career.

A collection of 30 tracks spanning Johnny Polygon's career from age 17 to present day.  It includes rare and unreleased tracks as well as features and collabs with KiD CuDi, Nas, Dead Prez, Adele, DJ Green Lantern, Amanda Diva, Picnic Tyme, Gabriel Royal and many more.

The Roots & Lauryn Hill - Is This Love (Live)

Wow.  The title should say it all.  From the Michael J. Fox Foundation's fundraiser.

The Wrap Up

The latest G.O.O.D. Friday joint.

Talib Kweli - Cold Rain
First release off his upcoming Gutter Rainbows album.

Dr. Dre - Kush (feat. Snoop Dogg & Akon)
Another first, this one off of the long overdue Detox.

Johnny Polygon - Benadryl
I don't know much about this dude, but I like what I've heard.  Real hip hop.

Charles Hamilton - All Alone
Can Sonic the Hamilton make a comeback?  Not if he keeps getting murdered by Serious Jones.

Mixtape Monday - Friday Night Lights

I'm back!!  Almost.  Tomorrow I'll resume regular posting duties.  Until then, make sure you download J. Cole's newest mixtape.

Download Friday Night Lights (via smokingsection)

And in other RocNation news, Jay Electronica is now part of the movement.  If you appreciate real hip hop and lyricism, you'll be a Jay Electronica fan.

Mixtape Monday - Boombox Music

My man Vito (@Yebies) put together this mixtape.  I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but I 100% trust his taste in music and just by looking can say that this mix is worth a listen.  Download the mixtape and enjoy/get familiar with these artists.
Boombox Music is for all you folks that love good music... I hope these tracks open you up to various artists that you may have seen on other sites but never gave a chance to. This mix includes music from J. Cole, Theo Martins, Mike Lights, QuESt, XO, Cee-Lo Green, and Jay Electronica, among others. I would give you the track list, but the thrill and suspense and the unknown is a lot better.

Sunday Wrap Up

Kanye West - Looking for Trouble (feat. Pusha T, Cyhi Da Prynce, Big Sean, J. Cole)
Sick Steel Pulse Sample (Blues Dance Raid).  Kanye can't miss right now.

Chiddy Bang - Dancing With The DJ
Posted this to twitter, but here's the link if you missed it.

Obie Trice, real name no gimmicks - Anymore
Cheers was a highly underrated album.  Good to hear some new Obie, and this track knocks.

Lil Wayne - Do It Again
Don't think this is new, but just a CDQ version of an old leak.

Here's the Steel Pulse sample Kanye uses in Looking for Trouble.  Classic reggae.

Friday, November 5, 2010

FREESTYLE FRIDAY - Pusha T & Kanye West*

Kanye gets the asterisk because he's actually just spitting his verse from Gorgeous.  Dude is a talented emcee but he doesn't kick style for free.  But Pusha goes off.

Talib Kweli – 1st Time (feat. Consequence)

From both Talib and Cons' upcoming mixtapes. Featuring a sick Marvin Gaye sample.

Completely unrelated, but download this Nitty Scott, MC track I Luv My Life.  If you're feelin' it check out her website.

Thursday, November 4, 2010

Lil Wayne - Talk That (lost verse)

Since today was #freeweezy day it's only fair to show him a little love. Timbaland dropped this never heard before verse from Talk That. More importantly, my favorite producer of all time will be starting Timbo Thursdays. Hypeness.

Chiddy Bang - Here We Go (live)

Chiddy Bang performs their banger live for MTV (aka 10 employees?). If only they had brought Q-Tip in for the live hook and a new verse. These kids are blowing up and it's great to see. I saw them perform 2 years ago in Brooklyn and now they are touring Europe and getting mad love from MTV. Gotta love when talented artists get respect.

Cee-Lo - It's Ok (Lyric Video)

Another lyric video (like the original for F*ck You) from the Soul Machine. This album needs to drop already.

Wednesday, November 3, 2010

Ronnie & Clyde

These digital shorts (and Andy Samberg) are about the only things that are still funny on SNL.  Peep this sequel to Shy Ronnie - Ronnie & Clyde.  You might want to watch the first video before, so I'll throw that down below.

Wale - Aston Martin Music (Freestyle)

I don't know what kind of love Wale gets outside of the DMV, but he's one of my favorite rappers out right now.

David Banner & 9th Wonder - Be With You (feat. Ludacris & Marsha Ambrosius)

This album will be serious - their styles mesh surprisingly well.  Check out this winner off their upcoming project.

Lupe Fiasco - The Show Goes On

I listened to this track 10 times on Saturday night.  Lupe is one of the most talented artists out there.  Go support him.  LASERS March 8, 2011.

Cee-Lo - The Lady Killer (Stream)

The Lady Killer drops November 9th.  But you can listen to the entire album now.  You should listen to the entire album now.

Big Sean - Too Fake (feat. Chiddy Bang)

Big Sean - Too Fake (Ft. Chiddy Bang) from illRoots.com on Vimeo.

New video from Big Sean's mixtape - Finally Famous Vol. 3.  I'll listen to anything from all 3 these guys, and this track doesn't disappoint.

Aloe Blacc - The Dark End of the Street

Straight from his label, Stones Throw Records.  Get familiar.  Now.

Tangerine & Deuces Remix

I posted these before, but here are the "official" versions if you don't have them.

Big Boi - Tangerine Remix (feat. Fabolous, Rick Ross, Bun B) via 2dopeboyz

Chris Brown - Deuces Remix (feat. Drake, T.I., Kanye West, Fabolous, Rick Ross & Andre 3000) via 2dopeboyz

Twista - Back to the Basics (feat. Diddy)

Adrenaline Rush was my go-to jam before every football game.  I can fuck with this track right here - and don't worry, Diddy only has a couple ad-libs.

Kanye West - The Joy (feat. Pete Rock, Jay-Z, Charlie Wilson, Curtis Mayfield & Kid Cudi)

It's been a minute since I've posted, but I swear I'll be back for good in about a week!!  Here's the latest G.O.O.D. Friday joint, and man is it good.

This is awesome

This band rocks out on the subway using IPHONES as instruments.  This is nuts.  Pretty good song too.  Check out their myspace if you're feeling the video.

Letter to the Industry

Hit me with all the copyright infringement claims that you want...  You're only hurting yourself.

This blog is not about piracy, and I will never post full albums.  The purpose is to expose people to new music.  If they like it, an artist might just have a new fan for life.  It's time to face reality - the music business has changed.  Look at Drake - he came up off of free music.  Same thing with Chiddy Bang.  Even Kanye is on board with it.  The internet has taken over, so stop worrying about blogs like we're the ones hurting your pockets.  I buy albums when I support the artist.  Music blogs just give me an opportunity to find more artists/groups to support.  That's all I'm trying to do.  Provide a forum for people to discover new music.  So if you want to try and shut me/us down, fuck you.

P.S. If anyone is an artist or has a friend on the come-up, I will post their music (as long as they don't completely suck).  Because that's what this is about - music.

Rihanna - What's My Name (feat. Drake)

Here's your standard radio/pop outing from Rihanna and Drizzy.

Big Boi - Tangerine Remix (feat. Rick Ross, T.I., Bun B, Khujo Goodie)

Should have gotten 3 Stacks.  Anyways, get your fix of T.I. before he heads off to jail for 11 months.

(via xclusivezone)

Cyhi Da Prynce - Royal Flush (Mixtape)

Haven't had a chance to listen to this yet, but Cyhi is signed to G.O.O.D. music.  Since I fuck with every artist on G.O.O.D. he will get a listen, and I will probably enjoy it, as should you.

Ryan Leslie x Jasmine Villegas - Hello (The Making Of)

I love these videos. This isn't the best of the bunch, but always worth a watch or two.

Chris Brown - Yeah 3x

Apparently this never got posted when it was supposed to go up, so here it finally is.  (UPDATE: Had to remove the download link - the site's first copyright infringement claim!)

Since Chris Brown isn't even on the Deuces Remix, I figured I'd show him a little bit of love.  This isn't his hottest track, but it's pretty catchy.  Also, fast forward this video to about 1 minute in and see how Chris Brown completely jacked this beat.

All City Chess Club - I'm Beaming Remix

Lupe brings in the All City Chess Club to remix I'm Beaming.  LASERS March 8, 2011.

Chiddy Bang - The Preview

GO BUY IT NOW!!!

And peep this performance from Billboard's Mashup Mondays - they remix Bobby McFerrin's classic "Don't Worry, Be Happy" and Chiddy kicks some style for free.

Cee-Lo - F*ck You (Live)

If you don't love this song, fuck you. If you don't think Cee-Lo has vocals, fuck you. If you can't respect the pink pimp suit, fuck you.

G.O.O.D. Music Cypher

Uploaded by yardie4lifever2. - More video blogs and vloggers.

This is serious. G.O.O.D. Music is a movement... get with it.

KiD CuDi - Erase Me (Video)

I swear this song seems more suited to the Jonas Brothers than CuDi.

Major Update

To make up for the 10 days without a post I'm gonna hit you with everything you missed over the past week...  Shout out to everyone who keeps checking back anyways - I promise to go hard again in November.

Child Rebel Soldier - Don't Stop (Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Pharrell)

RZA - Gone
I dedicate the song “Gone” to my friend Sally Menke and its my gift to her memory. I feel music is the best gift I can give and I’m giving it away to Wu-Disciples for free in her name. Who ever like the song can send a blessing of positive energy to Sally’s family and her legacy. Peace.

Kanye West - Christian Dior Denim Flow (feat. Kid Cudi, Pusha T, John Legend, Lloyd Banks & Ryan Leslie)

One of my favorite G.O.O.D. Friday joints.  John Legend is an incredible solo artist, but dude can make ANY hook sound killer when you throw him in the background.  Go download this now.

Young Blood (Chiddy Bang Remix)

Chiddy Bang is THE GROUP to watch.  Mark my words they will be huge in 2011.  Preorder their upcoming EP The Preview here.

Gilbere Forte - Dog Days Are Over (Yeasayer Remix)

Gilbere Forte (featured on the Alors on Dance Remix with Kanye) tackles this Florence & The Machines track.  Different vibe, but give it a shot.

Deuces Remix

Sorry for the lack of posts this past week - for the next month my updates might come sporadically but I'll do my best to hit you daily.  As my apology I present to you this star-power Deuces Remix featuring Drake, Kanye West, T.I., Fabolous, and Andre 3000.  They saved the best verse for last - can you guess whose it is???

Thursday, September 23, 2010

Nicki Minaj - Right Thru Me (Final/No Tags)

I'm not buying the Nicki Minaj hype, but this track is worth a few spins.

J. Cole - The Plan (produced by J. Cole)

Off NBA Elite 11.  J. Cole has skills on the mic and as a producer - don't sleep.

Theophilus London - Fatal Attraction

New joint from Theophilus London while he finishes work on his album...  He's a bit hard to describe, but dude is talented.  If you like this song I recommend you download his last mixtape here.

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

Lil Wayne - Gonorrhea (Feat. Drake)

HipHopConnection leaked this track off of I Am Not a Human Being.  Ignore the track-name... it's actually a pretty decent song.

50 Cent - They Burned Me

50 leaked this joint last night... check it out over at ThisIs50.com

Monday, September 20, 2010

Willow Smith - Whip My Hair

Yes, you read that correctly.  Willow Smith, Will Smith's 9 year old daughter, has entered the music business (or was given a gift from her dad depending on how you look at things).  A couple weeks ago she was signed to Jay-Z's RocNation, and now you can check out her song "Whip My Hair" on her website or on YouTube

Deadmau5 - Sofi Needs a Ladder

Changing up the pace a bit on this one - if you're a fan of techno, peep this new banger from Deadmau5.

Kanye West - Lord Lord Lord (feat. Mos Def, Raekwon, Swizz Beatz & Charlie Wilson)

Sorry for the lack of updates the last few days... but to be honest there hasn't been a whole lot worth posting.  If you haven't gotten it yet, check out Kanye's latest G.O.O.D. Friday joint.

Thursday, September 16, 2010

Mayer Hawthorne - No Strings

I haven't had a chance to listen to this, but it's Mayer Hawthorne, so I'm betting this is worth posting.

Another Charles Hamilton Mixtape

Apparently Charles recorded this “inside a studio without clocks or mirrors in a two-to-three week span.”  Could be interesting...

Monday, September 13, 2010

Kanye West & Pusha T - Runaway

Kanye and Pusha performed this to cap off the VMA's, and Flex dropped the CDQ version today.
Props to Kanye for not becoming public enemy #1 this year.

Drake & Bun B - Miss Me (OG Mix)

Apparently this track was originally supposed to be on Bun's album, but he let Drake have it for TML. Check out the original version on Bun B's Bandcamp page.

Stream John Legend & The Roots Wake Up!

Album dropping September 21st.

Everyone check out Fresh New Tracks for another guest review!

Big Boi Concert Footage

This took me way too long to make to let it fall.  And anyways everyone needs to watch this.  Check out my review on TheHipHopUpdate and be on the lookout for a guest post over at Fresh New Tracks.

Rich Hil - Purple Roads n Shit

Tommy Hilfiger's son is apparently making serious moves in the music world.  I'm not sure how to describe him, but I'd throw this on next time you light one up.

Download Purple Roads n Shit

If you're feeling the track, download his mixtape

Charles Hamilton - For Your Locker EP

Here is a 3-track EP from Charles Hamilton.  It's either going to be money or garbage, but Sonic the Hamilton was going pretty strong until he checked himself into a mental hospital.

Download it (via ondareal)

New Kanye - Good Friday (feat. Common, Pusha T, Kid Cudi, Big Sean, Charlie Wilson)

NEW Tupac - Ride For Me

Some new 'Pac is always welcome.  Check out this previously unreleased track featuring Fatal and Kurupt.

Donnis - Tonight

Check out this track from Donnis (another artist who just finished The Swelly Life Tour) off his upcoming Fashionably Late EP.  For those who don't know, Donnis was an XXL Freshman of the year along with J. Cole, Whiz Khalifa, Big Sean, etc.  If you're feeling the song, check out his Fashionably Late Mixtape here.

Aaron Smith (Shwayze) - Love Stoned (Mixtape)

I haven't had a chance to listen to this yet, just skimmed over a couple tracks, but it sounds pretty laid back and catchy...  Which is pretty much what you expect from Shwayze.  Stream or download it here. (via itsarap)

John Legend & The Roots - Little Ghetto Boy (Video)

Latest video from the Wake Up! album dropping September 21st.  Have I told you to pre-order this yet??

K-Young - Love Drunk feat. Crooked I

Here's a new track from K-Young, the singer/songwriter on Treacherous Records.  Does he remind anyone else of The Dream?

Throwback Thursday

Thanks to my man Jeff for pushing me to do this.  If you have a request for Throwback Thursdays or for any new music don't be afraid to holler at me on twitter!

For the first installment of Throwback Thursdays, I'm bringing you one of the greatest hip-hop storytellers of all time - Slick Rick.  His debut album, The Great Adventures of Slick Rick was released in 1988 and was certified platinum while reaching #1 on the hip-hop charts.  Slick Rick was funny, smooth, and easy to listen to with his slight British accent and super clear delivery.  Listen to Children's Story here, and then check out another one my favorite Slick Rick cuts after the jump.

Rihanna - Only Girl

This track has an electro-pop vibe so it might not be for everyone, but I'll have no shame rocking out to it this weekend.

XV - Vizzy Zone (Mixtape)

XV is a kid on the rise - recently signed to Warner Bros.,  he just finished up Chiddy Bang's The Swelly Life Tour and in about a week he'll be hitting the road with Mike Posner.  Check his myspace for dates if you are interested, but definitely check out the mixtape.

Chiddy Bang - The Good Life (Produced by Pharrell)

Chiddy Bang's debut album The Swelly Life was pushed back until 2011, but they are dropping a mini-album called The Preview in October to hold fans over.  I've been a Chiddy Bang fan for about a year and a half, and it's great to see these guys getting the mainstream love they deserve.

Download The Good Life (pic and song via Spin)

New Video - Wale, Waka Flocka & Roscoe Dash - No Hands

Here are the official visuals for one of the more radio friendly tracks off of More About Nothing.

Chiddy Bang - Fuck You Remix

Chiddy Bang just dropped a remix to Cee-Lo's Fuck You and the result is pretty dope.  I'm feeling the original so much so was worried I'd be disappointed, but Chiddy and Xaphoon come through like they usually do.  If you don't know about Chiddy Bang, go do your homework.

Keeping This Up Top

This took me way too long to make to let it fall.  And anyways everyone needs to watch this.  Check out my review on TheHipHopUpdate and be on the lookout for a guest post over at Fresh New Tracks.

New Verses from Big Boi and Andre 3000

I feel like this is turning into Outkast week here at BTHH, and I gotta say that I love it.  Here is a newer version of Lookin' 4 Ya (the track that Jive wouldn't let onto Sir Lucious) with an extra verse from Big and Dre.

Blackowned C-Bone Shouts Out Bigger Than Hip Hop

C-Bone was on stage with Big Boi last night, and I caught up with him after the show...

I gotta show some love for C-Bone - that's a good dude right there.  Hit the jump for a video of him and Big performing Starr Wass, and make sure you download his mixtape, The Strong Pack, here.

Yelawolf Shouts Out Bigger Than Hip Hop

Big Boi brought out Yelawolf last night to perform You Ain't No DJ, and I caught up with Yelawolf after the show.  He was definitely buzzing so the drop is a bit messed up, but check out my man at his myspace.

And hit the jump to check out the video for Yelawolf's single Pop the Trunk.

Big Boi Concert Footage

Here it is: Big Boi's full hour-long set from Brooklyn Bowl. The show was dope - if you want to read my full thoughts check out The Hip Hop Update.  You want to read my full thoughts right??  Anyway, without further ado, I bring you Big Boi...

Thank You

To everyone who reads the blog daily or even weekly - thanks for the support.  Hell, thanks if you just browse it one time and never come back.  I'm a new blogger and this is a new blog, but I'm going to keep at it and make it grow.  So a big shout out to everyone who sticks with me from the start - if this blog ever takes off I have you to thank!  Sound off in the comments if you like what you see/hear, or even if you want to see something else.  And of course tell your friends to come check out Bigger Than Hip Hop!!!

-Jefe

Andre Benjamin Is...

Outkast is the best rap duo of all time.  Period.  And Andre is top 5 dead or alive (I put him at number 1, but I wrote about him for my college essay so I guess I'm a bit of a groupie).  Anyways, DJ Ideal and Hometeam Music put together some classic verses, unreleased music, and interviews for this tape.  Download it.

In other Outkast news, I'm mucho excited to attend Big Boi's concert out in Brooklyn tonight.  I'll have HD footage of the entire show posted either tonight or tomorrow morning.

New Music - Wale and J. Cole

Wale just unleashed this alternate version to The Trip off his More About Nothing Mixtape.  Download it out here.

And J. Cole makes some magic over Kanye's buzzworthy Devil in a New Dress.  Download it over at J. Cole's blog DreamVillain.

I always love watching these behind-the-scenes videos from R. Les - the man is a musical genius.  Here's his latest work with Fabolous.

Some R&B Fire

And here are some remixes that need to be added to your library ASAP (if you can appreciate a little pop/techno).  I guarantee at least one will be played on repeat.

Labor Day Weekend Bangers

Here are some tracks you'll want to bump over the holiday weekend:

Fabolous - You Be Killin Em (Produced by Ryan Leslie) off his TiNC 2 EP.  Fab and R. Les usually bring it with their collabos, and they don't disappoint on this one.  download

Pitbull feat. T-Pain - Hey Baby.  Pretty much you would expect out of these two.  download

Cee-Lo Green... (really is) the Soul Machine

To cap off this onslaught of video's I bring you the visuals for Cee-Lo's "Fuck You."  Best song of the summer?  Maybe.  Highly underrated artist?  Definitely.  Lady Killer EP coming in December.

John Legend and The Roots

In studio performance of John Legend and The Roots’ cover of "I Can't Write Left Handed." Off their upcoming collaborative album "Wake Up!" which drops September 21st. I'm really feeling the old-school movement by artists like John Legend, Sharon Jones, Aloe Blacc and Mayer Hawthorne.

B.o.B Unplugged

You can check out his full performance here, but below is a version of "Magic" that sounds like a poor man's version of "Hey Ya."

A Show About Nothing

For my first post I have to give some love to an artist from home who’s putting out some really great music - Wale.  Wale put on a great (sold out) “Show About Nothing” last week in NYC and I was lucky enough to be in attendance.  He performed highlights from his new mixtape, some of the better tracks off of his album, and brought out J. Cole and Fab for a couple guest spots.
Wale’s mixtapes have all been certifiably dope, but unfortunately his studio album is his worst piece of work (but still a really good album worth listening to).  I blame the studio for not giving him full creative control, and I’m pretty sure Wale does too… “everyone judging off a single I ain’t even pick.”  Anyways, check out some highlights from the show here:
Sorry about the shitty quality, but the videos were taken on my phone.  Future videos will be uploaded from a pocket cam.
